Macau spares no effort to control virus outbreak

The Macau government has announced a wide range of measures in relation to its disease controlling efforts in the midst of the pneumonia outbreak from the Wuhan and Hubei province.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, a newly launched action center, on Wednesday held a meeting to review the latest developments of the virus.

Temperature checks have already been introduced at all Macau boundary checkpoints, along with all entrances of government buildings and casinos.

The MGTO additionally announced it will be implementing several preventative measures at its “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rat, which will be held on 27th January and 1 February.

Measures include posters advising of preventative measures, providing alcohol-based hand sanitizers, providing surgical masks on site, temperature screening of staff and performers, and heightened observation of staff and performers’ medical well-being.

The government tourism office has also stopped the organization of tour groups to Wuhan over the coming three weeks.
