Macau to focus on international tourists

Macau’s tourism authorities are aiming for 4-5 million international visitors in the coming decade, with a 66 percent increase of non-Chinese tourists over the next few years.

Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes made the comments during the Global Tourism Economy Forum, with tourism experts reportedly discussing ways to further Macau’s tourism industry.

Fernandes said the focus will be on international tourists.

"This year up until now we have seen a seven percent increase. We will try in the future to keep up with this pace and we want to attract tourists from other parts of the world. As of now we have about three million international visitors. And we want that within 10 years to see if there's a possibility for the future to grow to four or five million"
