Macau tourism arrivals fall 3.4 percent in April


The number of tourists visiting Macau fell 3.4 percent in April to 2.55 million, according to figures from the Statistics and Census Service.

The latest monthly decline means that tourism numbers in the first four months of the year are down 3.6 percent to 9.96 million.

Visitors from mainland China, by far Macau’s most important market, fell 6.4 percent to 1.6 million, while Japanese arrivals were down 16.5 percent.

 

There was an improvement of 3 percent in visitor numbers from Hong Kong, while those from Taiwan were up 11 percent and South Korea up 21.3 percent.
