Macau visitors up 2.4 percent in September


Visitors to Macau increased 2.4 percent year-on-year in September, reaching a total of 2.5 million arrivals, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

Visitors from Mainland China increased 9.2 percent year-on-year in the month, reaching 1.7 million, while those from South Korea recorded a 10.6 percent growth. Visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan fell 14.3 and 5.8 percent respectively.

Long-haul visitors from the United States, Australia, Canada and the UK also registered decreases, according to the data.

Looking into length of stay, overnight visitors increased 5.4 percent in September, while same day visitors decreased by 1 percent.

The latest figures brought visitor arrivals for the first three quarters of 2017 to 23.8 million, up 4.2 percent compared to the same period in 2016.
