Malta Gaming Authority opens new offices in SmartCity Malta


Malta Gaming Authority’s new offices at SmartCity Malta were officially inaugurated  by the Prime Minister of Malta Dr. Joseph Muscat and MGA’s senior leadership team on Feb. 16. 2016.

The office spans over 2,562 square meters spread over two floors, which will host over 150 employees. The new offices will have all the facilities needed for MGA to carry out its functions and activities in-house, being press events, networking events, seminars and training for staff.

In his opening address, MGA executive chairman Joseph Cuschieri highlighted the milestones that have contributed to the success of the gaming authority since its inception in 2004. Cuschieri mentioned the fact that Malta was the first EU Member State to enact comprehensive legislation on remote gaming. Cuschieri also mentioned the new Gaming Act, which will be the focus of MGA this year and is expected to be presented in Parliament before the summer recess. Changes will include new consumer protection measures as well as simplification in the licensing structure from the current model to a B2B and B2C framework.

In his closing address, the Hon. Dr Joseph Muscat praised the MGA for having put in place a strategy that emphasizes innovation and diversity in order to continue attracting investors to Malta.

 The opening ceremony ended with a guided tour of the premises.
