Manila casinos to undergo active shooter exercises

After completing bomb threat and response exercises this week, Manila’s hotels and casinos are set to undergo active shooter exercises next week, Manila Bulletin reports.

According to Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Supt. Joel Coronel, at least seven hotels including the Manila Hotel and Diamond Hotel, as well as casinos operated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) will take part in the drills.

“We will be having a seminar first, then contingency planning with the establishments’ security officers,” Coronel said.

After that, simulation drills will be conducted, teaching staff how to properly react to active shooter scenarios.

“After the Resorts World incident, I’m sure all police stations in Metro Manila are in full alert,” said Coronel. “We’ve learned lessons from that incident so we should adapt and change.”
