Melco brings Lunar New Year cheer to community

More than 120 volunteers from Melco Resorts worked to give back to the community with three different events with over 550 beneficiaries ahead of the Lunar New Year.

Co-organized with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, Melco volunteers cleaned the homes of over 260 elderlies living alone at the Ching-Chong Houses for Elders, in preparation for the Lunar New Year.

“Lucky bags” from the Fuhong Society of Macau, a local social enterprise, and festive decorations were also gifted to the elderly.

Melco volunteers also enjoyed Lunar New Year-themed games and “Fai-Chun” making with 250 students and teachers from the Concordia Special Education School. A special dance performance by The House of Dancing Water show performers was also arranged. The event concluded with a school lunch arranged by Melco and gifts presentation to the students.

Last but not least, Melco volunteers paid a visit to 45 living-alone elders in Shek Pai Wan, introducing to them the proper use of Ping-On-Tung, a one-press device for emergency calls specially designed for the elderly. “Lucky bags” were also gifted to the elderly, bringing them warmth and joy in the cold weeks of winter.

Ms. Akiko Takahashi, executive vice president, chief officer of human resources and corporate social responsibility of Melco Resorts & Entertainment said, “We are proud of our deep-rooted culture in volunteerism. We applaud our colleagues for taking their time to spread love and care to the community in Macau, and we will continue to organize creative and best-in-class volunteer programs for our colleagues. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the General Union of Neighbourhood Association of Macau, and the Concordia Special Education School of Macau for supporting our volunteer activities. Lastly, we would like to wish everyone a happy Lunar New Year, and a fruitful and prosperous year to come.”
