Melco Philippines unit to drop Crown from name

Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts is looking to drop “Crown” from its name as part of a corporate rebranding.

The company, which was set up by Melco Crown to take part in the operation of City of Dreams Manila made the announcement in a filing to the Philippines Stock Exchange on Thursday.

The operator additionally announced its plan to reduce the number of directors from nine to seven.

“The change in the corporate name is part of the Corporation’s rebranding, while the reduction in board size is in order to enhance the Board’s effectiveness in conducting its business and to allow more participation of the independent directors,” said the company.
