Melco wins four Green Key Awards

Melco Resorts & Entertainment said it is the first in Macau to win four Green Key Awards, recognizing excellence in sustainability in its hotels.

The awards went to Morpheus, Nüwa, The Countdown at City of Dreams and Studio City Hotel. The award is a global tourism industry eco-label which recognizes excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation.

“Melco is committed to environmental sustainability, and we are thrilled to be presented with the prestigious and globally-recognized Green Key award for the efforts dedicated to this cause at our various integrated resort properties,” CEO Lawrence Ho said.

Melco says its green infrastructures have successfully conserved CO2 emissions by a volume that would require more than 6.9 million trees to absorb and saved water volumes exceeding 438 Olympic-size swimming pools. Earlier this spring, it put into service a fleet of 20 electronic zero-emission buses to serve passengers travelling to and from its properties.

The Green Key Awards were launched in Denmark in 1994.
