MGM partners with Osaka on 2025 World Expo

MGM Resorts Japan has become an Official Partner with the Osaka government in its bid to host the 2025 World Expo at Yumeshima, the same location that is likely to become host to the nation’s first major urban IR.

Jason P. Hyland, representative officer and president of MGM Resorts Japan, stated, “As someone who has lived in Osaka, and visited there many times, I believe Osaka is the outstanding choice to host Expo 2025. It has so much to offer, including great hospitality, superb support, and some of the world’s technology leaders. MGM Resorts is proud to be an Official Partner and is ready to help proactively with Osaka’s candidacy, in cooperation with the Japanese government.”

In making this move, MGM follows Melco Resorts & Entertainment, which pioneered this particular lobbying strategy in October. There are thus two international IR operators now serving as an Official Partner on the expo bid.

A couple of months ago, MGM Resorts also helped sponsor Osaka’s Dotonbori River Festival, a two-day event which brought together food, music, dance, comedy shows, and other entertainment to a well-known district of the city.
