MGM sponsors Osaka festival for third consecutive year

For the third year running, MGM Resorts has become a sponsor for the October 12th to 13th Dotombori River Festival, in particular focusing on the Yosakoi dancing events.

Jason Hyland, representative officer and president of MGM Resorts Japan, commented, “Following 2017 and 2018, we are very honored to be able to participate in this festival again this year, which is representative of the Osaka area. We are also fans of Japanese traditional performing arts and Yosakoi dancing, and we have been looking forward to being able to participate in this year's festival of Osaka's culture and entertainment.”

MGM Resorts is widely regarded as the clear frontrunner among IR operators in the race to be selected by the Osaka government as its partner, especially now that two of its most serious rivals, Las Vegas Sands and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, have announced their withdrawal from the Osaka race.

Among the handful of rival operators that may still remain in the Osaka race—Genting, Galaxy Entertainment, and Wynn Resorts—none have made major efforts to engage with the community nor unveiled a powerful local partner as MGM has done.

MGM is also the only operator that has an “Osaka First” policy in Japan.
