Mid-term review will be delayed, says Lionel Leong

Macau Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong Vai Tac said there would be a delay in the “mid-term review” of the city’s gaming industry, due to “cautious processing” of the report data, local media reports.

Lionel said there was a “cautious processing” of the report data,  especially data relating to legal issues and noted his department was doing the translation work relating to the mid-term review.

The Secretary did not specify when the report would be released to the public, but said it would be before the end of the year.

The mid-term review aims to examine what has been achieved by the city’s six gaming concessions since the liberalization of the gaming industry in 2002. The current concessions are due to expire on dates between 2020 and 2022.
