Nagaland Governor gives assent to the online skill games bill

Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has approved the Nagaland Online Games of Skill Bill, making Nagaland the first Indian state to pass a specific law on online games of skill, local sources report.

In March, local media reported the bill was passed by the Nagaland legislative assembly with no significant changes and was to await assent of the government, after which rules and licensing policies will be formulated by the state government.

The Bill, which was originally introduced in July 2015, is set to change the way government and regulatory sources now inform that the process of drafting rules and issuing licenses will commence in the next two or three months.
