Naval base casino cashier sentenced for theft

A former casino cashier at the Yokosuka Naval Base has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing nearly $100,000 from the Yokosuka casino in 2015.

The Yokosuka Naval Base is a US Navy controlled base located in Yokosuka, which is south of Yokohama in Japan.

60 year-old Philippine citizen Cynthia Lopez Creseni, was sentenced by a U.S. District Court in Kansas City on Friday last week.

According to an affidavit, Creseni repeatedly stole money while working as a cashier at a slot-machine room located at the north of the city.

The naval investigative authorities have long suspected her involvement after being notified of missing cash in March 2015.

“Creseni stated that she continued to take money over the course of six months, and falsified reconciliation documents that made the money appear as if it were accounted for during official audits,” the affidavit said.

It was reported that Creseni will return to her home country after her incarceration.
