New casino may open in Siberian Coin gambling zone

Another casino may be opened in the Siberian Coin gambling zone in Russia's Altai Territory in 2018, general manager of the currently operating Altai Palace casino Yevgeniy Kosikh told privately-owned publication Betting Business Russia.

Plans to start construction of the new casino in 2017 are linked to the company's forecast that the flow of visitors will increase over the next year to a level that Altai Palace will be unable to accommodate. It currently receives about 3,000 gamblers per month and expects this figure to double by summer. According to local Katun 24 TV, the casino received 17,600 visitors in 2015.

In comparison, the Oracul casino in the Azov City gambling zone, which has operated since 2010, was visited by about 300,000 people in the first 11 months of 2015.

Altai Palace was opened on 1 November 2014, but does not operate at full-scale due to delays in the delivery of construction materials. A full-scale opening is expected this summer.

There are also rumours that Altai Palace's management has received an offer worth RUB 1.1 billion (US$13.9 million) to sell the casino, which was declined.
