New Osaka business leader prioritizes IR development

Hiroyuki Ikeda, who recently rose to the leadership of the Kansai Association of Corporate Executives, emphasized in an interview his organization’s full support for the development of an IR at Osaka’s Yumeshima island.

Speaking to Jiji Press, Ikeda noted that such an IR "should attract investments worth trillions of yen and create tens of thousands of jobs.”

Ikeda, who is also deputy chairman of Resona Bank, became head of the Kansai Association of Corporate Executives last week, and he is now providing his first round of interviews in his new post.

Osaka’s bid to host an IR at Yumeshima has long enjoyed robust support from major business groups, and Ikeda’s comments make clear that this level of backing is set to continue.
