No new casinos in Goa under tourism plan

Goa’s new tourism master plan doesn’t involve new casinos, local media cited Goa, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar as telling the legislative assembly.

In a written reply, Mr Ajgaonkar said: "All stakeholders involved in the tourism industry would be consulted, before finalising the master plan, which incidentally has been criticised by stakeholders as well as Opposition members."

Goa has six offshore casinos and about 10 onshore casinos.

The government has been considering a plan to move the casinos to a designated location to form a tourism hub.
