Online rummy ban may become permanent

The Telangana government is likely to convert two ordinances which lead to a permanent ban on online skill games in the state, local media reports.

According to Times of India, the Telangana cabinet is set to meet on Monday, October 23 to approve three Bills, one of which involves the prohibition of online rummy.

Iti s understood that the Bills are likely to be introduced in the legislative assembly session that is set to begin on October 27.

The bill is set to deliver another blow to online rummy companies, who have been fighting an ordinance issued in July banning betting or wagering on all games of skill.

Should it be passed, the companies who had previously submitted petitions challenging the previous ordinance will be forced to either amend their petitions or file fresh ones challenging the new Act, thereby delaying progress in the ongoing litigation, according to Glaws.
