Pagcor revenue increased 9 pct in 2017: Domingo

Revenue of the Philippines’ gaming regulator rose 9 percent to P59.8 billion (US$1.2 billion) in 2017, due in part to improved ties with neighboring countries such as China, said Pagcor chairperson Andrea Domingo.

Speaking to the Inquirer on the weekend, Domingo said the figure represented earnings from the casinos it owns and operates, as well as royalties and license fees from private gaming firms.

The biggest portion came from Pagcor-operated casinos (P22.4 billion), followed by fees from licensed casinos (P19.3 billion), traditional bingo and e-bingo sites (P9.45 billion), share from other gaming licensees such as e-games, poker, junket operations (P5.5 billion) and offshore gaming operators (P3.1 billion).

Overall gross gaming revenue for 2017 reached over P170 billion, up from P149 billion reached in 2016, said Domingo.
