Parisian Macau’s Eiffel Tower tops out

Sands China’s Parisian Macao resort in Cotai launched a topping out ceremony to celebrate the replica Eiffel Tower reaching its highest point with the placement of its dome and lantern structure.

Sands China executives in attendance signed the tower’s dome before a crane lifted it into its final position amid traditional French and Chinese dancing.

“The Parisian Macao, and in particular its Eiffel Tower, is certain to be a landmark presence on the Cotai Strip, and an iconic addition to the city’s skyline,” said Wilfred Wong, president and chief operating officer designate for Sands China Ltd., who will be working for the company beginning November 1.

Macau’s half-scale replica Eiffel Tower structure is steel instead of the original’s wrought iron and is engineered to receive both the high winds of Macao’s annual typhoon season and the high traffic of Macao’s bustling tourism industry.

The completed tower will feature many of the ornamental touches of its counterpart in Paris, including ornate detailing such as cornice scrolls, balustrades, gusset plates, lattices, staircases, and mesh screens around the observation decks. Also like its elder sibling, a light show will spectacularly light up the tower each night.

The Parisian Macao is the latest addition to the integrated resort city of Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macao.

Targeted to open in second half of 2016, The Parisian Macau will feature 3,000 guest rooms and suites.
