Philippines GGR up 23 percent year-on-year in July

Philippine gross gaming revenue rose 23 percent in July compared with the same month a year earlier, with solid growth in mass, said CLSA analyst Marcus Liu in a note on Friday.

The results were a dip from June, which marked the region’s third consecutive month of all-time highs.

The results were still strong though, said the brokerage. While VIP was held back by bad luck, a crackdown on e-gaming and strong Chinese high roller traffic helped to boost results in the region.

The opening to the expressway next month with further spur foot traffic, added the CLSA analyst.

The Manila casino sector is currently dominated by City of Dreams Manila, Solaire Resorts & Casino and Resorts World Manila. A new casino resort, Okada Manila is set to open in November this year.
