POGO overtakes IT-BPM in salary, office space demand

Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) workers are given bigger salaries compared to call centers, according to research from Leechiu Property Consultants, local media reports.

In its third-quarter report, the consultancy said the POGOs are now granting around $9 billion in annual salaries, compared to $7.5 billion for those in the IT-BPM sector.

POGOs have also surpassed IT-BPMs for the first time in office space demand, driving around 34 percent of office demand nationwide. Most of the office space demand continues to be in Manila.

Leechiu said that POGOs in Metro Manila has been expanding aggressively, despite some negativity surrounding the industry, including a temporary ban on POGO license issuance.
