Police arrest 104 people in online gambling raid


In the country’s latest gambling crackdown, police in the Philippines have arrested 104 persons for illegal online gambling in Pasig City, local media reports.

According to a statement from the  National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) head Director Guillermo Eleazar, a raid was conducted at 1 pm on Thursday.

93 of the individuals arrested were Chinese nationals. Several desktop, laptops, Android mobile phones, and other devices were seized.

The arrested individuals will be facing violation of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) in relation to Presidential Decree 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling).
