Police arrest 51 in POGO raid

Philippine police have arrested at least 50 Chinese and a citizen from Myanmar during a raid on an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator on Monday night, according to local media reports.

Those arrested were working at the Hua Xim POGO in Makati City, the report said.

The raid was staged by the city government’s business permit and licensing office in coordination with the Makati police after receiving calls from concerned citizens.

Laptop and desktop computers, internet routers, cell phones and other electronic gadgets and several electronic one-time passcodes were found in the POGO firm’s office.

Philippine authorities have been stepping up enforcement of POGO operations, strengthening cooperation between various departments to ensure compliance with tax, gaming regulations and immigration.
