Police arrest six over illegal remote gambling

Six suspects were arrested last week in Singapore for their alleged involvement in providing remote gambling services and taking part in remote gambling, local media reports.

Five men and one woman aged between 28 and 38 were nabbed in the raid on an entertainment outlet on Orchard Road, with police seizing a computer, mobile phones, as well as S$4,000 in cash during the raid.

"The suspects would gather like-minded gamblers to join in the illegal remote gambling sessions and earned commission from the turnover of the bets," said police, adding that an app called Niu Niu was used to facilitate gambling.
