Queensland to woo casino investors

Queensland Tourism Minister Kate Jones is leading a team of government officials to Macau and Las Vegas in an attempt to woo bidders for two casino licenses, 9NEWS reports.

Jones and her team are looking for investors for a license in Cairns and one on the Gold Coast.

"Our strategy is all based around attracting more visitors who stay longer and spend more in Queensland to create jobs for locals," Jones told the news outlet.

The ultimate goal of the team is to see new "super casino resorts" built in Queensland complete with accommodation options, restaurants, gaming and entertainment venues and shops.

"I have been approached by some of the world's most successful entertainment companies keen to invest in Queensland. But we're working to make sure we get the balance right for Queenslanders," she said.
