Resorts World Genting to attract more Indian tourists

Resorts World Genting is expecting the opening of the Twentieth Century Fox World theme park to drive up the number of Indian visitors to the resort.

Ajay Sharma, the Indian country manager for Resorts World Genting, said he expected the number of overall visitors to reach 30 million by 2020, with India being among the top four markets in terms of visitor arrivals.

Sharma, who was speaking to TravelBiz Monitor, forecasted the number of Indian visitors to reach 300,000 by 2020, compared to 250,000 which was recorded before the closure of the outdoor theme park.

The Malaysian resort operator has invested RM10.4 billion (US$2.5 million) in the redevelopment of its integrated resort as part of the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan.

The integrated resort is expecting to open its indoor theme park - SkyTroplis in February 2018, while its outdoor theme park will open in late 2018.

The resort will also offer additional hotels, a new lifestyle mall, new cable car system, and the opening of new restaurants.
