Resorts World hotel project in Macau gets a billboard

Genting’s plans for a Resorts World-branded hotel in Macau appears to be moving ahead, after a billboard showing a concept for the hotel was erected at its construction site at Nam Van Lake, Macau Business reports.

Genting first indicated plans to develop a boutique hotel on a plot of reclaimed land in Macau in January 2014.

At the time, Yany Kwan, chairman of Genting unit Treasure Island Entertainment Complex said that the plans submitted to the government did not include gaming.

However, Genting Hong Kong in its latest financial report said it has the intention to open a casino on the site, subject to approval from the Macau government.

According to Macau Business, a construction license was issued on May 2 of this year and is valid until July 7 for foundation works.

A development plan for the 8,100 plot of land, which was published in 2008, includes the construction of a 21-story building with a five-star hotel, parking facilities, and free area.
