Sands’ new resort to bring a touch of Paris

Sands China’s Parisian Macau is expected to bring “a touch of Paris” to the region, says Jesko Von Den Steinen, senior advisor for the Parisian Brand Identity.

On the sidelines of the France Macau Business Association Breakfast Meeting last week, interviewed by Macau Daily Times, Steinen noted the Parisian’s unique architecture and quality of service will stand out.

“It’s about creating an overall aligned experience. If we can do that then I think people will have a memorable time and [they] would want to come back, and hopefully we can stand out,” he told the Times.

Macau has seen a gradual shift away from VIP gamblers, with operators now turning to mass and premium mass to keep profits up.

Steinen said the new development will be aimed at leisure travellers rather than pure gaming customers, hoping the new resort will bring in an average of 80,000 to 120,000 visitors.

“The hope is that there will be considerable traffic coming to the space and I think that’s the intent. […]. Hopefully the client that comes to The Venetian is looking for a different experience than the [client] that goes to The Parisian,” he explained.

According to Steinen, nearly all of the hotel rooms and family-friendly spaces, as well as 85 percent of the retail spaces, will be functioning on the resort’s first day.

The new integrated resort is expected to open on September 13, 2016.

Over the weekend, Macau’s Secretary of Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong announced that Sands’ new development would receive 150 total gaming tables, with 100 to be allocated initially. The results were better than analyst expectations.
