Seven arrested in illegal betting racket


Seven people were arrested on Monday by the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police for their involvement in an illegal betting racket, local media reports.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the betting racket registered themselves with a UK-based company, Betacular,com by paying Rs 10,000 (US$143) in January and downloaded a mobile application which helps to help punters monitor online market bets.

Along with the arrests, 18 mobile phones, two laptops, two cars, and Rs 23,000 in cash have been seized.
