Singapore visitors reach 7.8 million in first five months


Singapore attracted a total of 7.8 million visitors to the city-state in the first five months of the year, representing a 1.5 percent growth over the previous year.

According to data from the Singapore Tourism Board, around a third of the total number of visitors during the period came out of Southeast Asia, namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. 

However, the total number from this region declined slightly year-on-year (around 1 percent), to 2.6 million visitors.    

On the other hand, visitors from the Greater China region showed growth, going up 3.2 percent year-on-year to 1.9 million. 

Other markets showing strong growth was the Americas which include USA and Canada - which grew 8 percent year-on-year to 404,988 visitors in the five months. 

Singapore is home to Genting Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, and Las Vegas Sands’ Marina Bay Sands.
