SJM employee union demands pay hike

A union representing employees of Macau casino operator SJM Holdings has gathered nearly 8,000 signatures for a 5 to 7 percent salary hike, TDM Radio reports.

According to the president of the union, the average SJM employee was seeing his salary outpaced by the current inflation rate, with the operator not having made any salary adjustments despite recovery of the city’s gaming industry.

The petition comes even though SJM announced earlier this month that it would give its employees a “living allowance” this year, which includes a “new year bonus” and a “summer allowance”.

It is understood that the petition is now awaiting submission.
