SJM pledges ongoing support to Macau

Macau casino operator SJM Holdings, in close coordination with the government, has initiated a series of welfare and support services for its staff members and the public at the wake of Typhoon Hato on August 24.

Further support services are announced today, including providing free medical treatment to the residents at Praia do Manduco area.

One of the latest support services is to provide free medical treatment to the needy at Praia do Manduco area through co-operating with Dr. Pun Chai Hou of Chun Ton Medical Center from August 30 onwards for one month, every Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm.

In addition, SJM has decided to extend the opening of its staff supermarket “SJM Excellence Staff Center” to the public until September 14, to help ease residents’ burden of shopping for necessities during this challenging typhoon period.  Goods are sold in the Center at staff discount prices.

Meanwhile, the SJM Volunteer Team has been assisting with relief work since last Thursday, providing support services to the households and families affected by Typhoon Hato.  Assistance hotline has also been set up by the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee of SJM for the public and staff.

Ms. Angela Leong, managing director and chief administrative officer of SJM, also chairman of its Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, said, “We are deeply impressed by our staff members in volunteering their efforts in relief work.  With love for and confidence in our city, all of us at SJM pledge our ongoing support to the local community, and together, we are going to rebuild our home.”
