SJM still awaiting construction green light

Casino operator SJM Holdings is hoping to resume construction of its Grand Lisboa Palace development after complying with the changes required by Macau’s Labor Affairs Services, Macau TDM reports.

On Wednesday, SJM executive director Ambrose So said that the company has made all the changes required by DSAL, and is now waiting for the green light to start work again.

In June, the government ordered the suspension of construction work at the site after a fatal accident which led to the death of a construction worker.

Authorities said a worker fell from an 8 meter-high platform.

“The Labour Affairs Bureau has issued a suspension order to the contractor, in order to protect the safety of other workers; and ordered the contractor to fully implement effective measures that improve occupational safety,” said the Labor Affairs Bureau at the time.
