SkyCity cleared in wrongful dismissal case

New Zealand’s SkyCity Entertainment won an unfair dismissal case against a casino worker fired for authorizing a payment of more than $300,000 to a player, local media reports.

The employee, Keith Hayashi, made the mistake that a player had been playing a wrong table limit and was owed $310,000. He promised to pay her despite needing authorization from the company’s CEO.

It was subsequently found the limit was correct and she was not owed anything, however she demanded and was eventually paid the sum.

He was fired but complained to the Employee Relations Authority that it was unfair.
