SkyCity says international business drives revenue

SkyCity Entertainment says its international business is up 36 percent in the year through to November, though domestic revenue is lagging.

In a trading update at an investor conference, the New Zealand operator said group floor revenue is up 7 percent, though excluding international, domestic revenue was up just 3 percent. International business totalled $4.5 billion ($3 billion).

The company says the outlook for the rest of this year is for stronger comparatives, with its Auckland international business expected to show a particularly strong performance.

The company’s trading update says that momentum in Auckland remains strong with revenue up six percent, although Hamilton was slightly weaker.

The Adelaide operation has “improved local gaming activity” despite major construction work at the property.

SkyCity recently announced it has sold its Darwin casino to a U.S. operator Delaware North for $188 million.
