Smoking ban rules to come out in July

The new rules and regulations related to the public smoking ban in the Philippines will be released in July, reports SunStar Manila.

Earlier this month, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order banning smoking in public places nationwide. It is currently unclear what the impact will be for the country’s casinos and whether they will allow enclosed smoking rooms, such as in Macau, but the order does make a provision for designated smoking areas in either an open space or a separate area with proper ventilation.

On Tuesday, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of Executive Order (EO) 26 would be released within 60 days.

"We are looking at coming out with the IRR inside the 60-day effectivity period provided by the EO, likely before SONA," said Ubial.

Ubial said they were already working with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp and various other government bodies on the IRR.
