Sochi’s first casino to soft launch NYE

Sochi’s first casino is scheduled for a soft launch on New Year’s Eve, five days before its grand opening, local media reports.

"Many people are now looking forward to the official opening of the casino. We decided to make a gift to our future visitors and provide them with unique opportunity to celebrate the New Year in 'Sochi Casino and Resort' [official name of the new casino], becoming its first guests before January 5,” said the casino's managing director Stuart McLouklin.

According to Mr. McLouklin, a special New Year's entertainment programme will be held on December 31, including music shows and fireworks.

It was earlier reported that Sochi’s first casino would be open on December 24, or Christmas Eve.

The company running the casino, LLC Domain, obtained a gaming licence in the beginning of November. It earlier announced it will use the media centre built for the 2014 Sochi Olympics for its entertainment centre.
