Spintec eyes Asia expansion, launches in Australia

Spintec, a maker of electronic table games, is planning further expansion in Southeast Asia this year and made its market debut in Australia last week.

The company was showcasing its full range of products at G2E Asia in Macau, with a focus on its Aura multi-game amphitheater.

“We’re expanding in Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia, this is our main focus,” Primoz Krsevan, Spintec’s regional sales manager, said in an interview in Macau last week. “Macau is more or less saturated, so we must come out with new product because everyone now has roulette.”

Krsevan said Spintec has just installed its first product in Australia in the Epping Club in Sydney, which he says will be an interesting market for the company. The property was founded in 1919 as a social club by ex-servicemen returning from World War 1.

“It’s a very big market and not many producers are there because it’s very specific and it took us quite a while,” he said. “We’ve been working on the project for almost two years...roulette and baccarat for now and slowly we will add games.”

“ETG is very regulated. They can only have a maximum of 15 percent of the market compared with slots, so we are very limited. But they play like crazy.”

In Macau, the company is trying to introduce new games, such as craps and blackjack and also has others in the pipeline in the next few months.

However, Krsevan said his top market pick in the region would be Vietnam.

“We like markets which are regulated because there is less competition and you can have higher prices,” he says, adding that although there is a lot going on in Cambodia, the market is more price sensitive.
