Strike Casino is granted interim relief from HC

Goa’s Strike Casino, which was recently forced to close for failure to pay the state’s newly introduced license fees, has been granted interim relief from the High Court of Bombay, allowing it to continue operations with only a part payment, local media reports.

The casino was closed by the Home Department earlier this week after failing to pay the increased annual recurring fees, however, the High Court has now directed the state government to allow the operator to pay a part payment of Rs 10 crore.

The operator of Strike Casino, M/s Goan Hotels and Realty Pvt Ltd, had filed a petition asking for the casino operations not be shut down.

The operator also informed the court it had applied for a reduction in the gaming area of its onshore casino to 300 square meters, which would attract a lower license fee.
