Suncity and Clairvest qualify for Wakayama RFP

The Wakayama Prefectural Government announced on Thursday that both the Suncity Group and the Clairvest Group have qualified to participate in its RFP process.

The two applicants will have until August 31 to submit all of their paperwork and proposals. Wakayama is expected to select its consortium partner around mid-November if there are no delays in the national government’s timeline.

Clairvest has indicated that they are working with another IR operator in their bid, and they are functioning as the “quarterback” for their consortium.

Barriere and Bloomberry were widely expected to make bids in Wakayama, but appear to have been frustrated by circumstances surrounding the global Covid-19 crisis.

There are currently four local governments openly competing for the three available IR licenses: Yokohama, Osaka, Wakayama, and Nagasaki.
