Super typhoon unlikely to affect Macau before Oct 30

Super Typhoon “Yutu” is unlikely to affect Macao before October 30, according to an announcement from the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau.

The announcement, made on Sunday evening said that the typhoon is currently located over the Pacific Ocean, and is expected to move westward to Luzon, Philippines and then to the South China Sea.

However, the bureau cautioned that since “Yutu” may be affected by the monsoon afterward, its path and intensity is still uncertain, and has urged the public to stay up to date with the latest news.

Last month, Macao was hit with Typhoon Mangkhut, a category 10 mega-storm which led to a closure of all 42 casinos in Macao for 33 hours.
