Tabcorp files defense to AUSTRAC

Australian wagering giant Tabcorp has filed a defence in relation to civil proceedings brought by AUSTRAC, said the operator in a media release.

Tabcorp says it is contesting many of the allegations made against it, with the exception of allegations that related to: its NSW business not enrolling as a reporting entity in the prescribed timeframe; its NSW and Victorian business did not lodge certain suspicious matter reports; deficiencies in Tabcorp’s previous AML/CTF program; and that its NSW business did not conduct appropriate verification of a particular customer in a retail venue.

The hearing is currently scheduled to commence in June, 2017.
