Taxes lowered for Tigre de Cristal over Covid-19 outbreak

The legislative assembly in Russia's Primorye has temporarily lowered taxes for Tigre de Cristal as a relief measure over the Covid-19 outbreak, a local news publication reports.

On July 16, the deputies unanimously approved a bill reducing the tax rate on the gambling business following restrictions on its operations. Tigre de Cristal started operating from that same day, according to its Instagram account, while observing certain rules, including using only every second slot machine and gambling table in order to ensure social distancing.

Thus, from July to October, the only facility in the Primorye local gambling zone will pay the lowest possible tax. The regional budget is estimated to lose about 16 million rubles (about US$225,000) as a result.

Tigre de Cristal suspended its work in Primorye at the end of April due to the epidemiological situation, continuing to pay taxes on its gambling equipment; that is, 125,000 rubles (US$1,755) per gambling table and 15,000 rubles (US$200) per slot machine.

The temporarily lowered tax stands at 50,000 roubles (US$700) per gambling table and 3,000 roubles (US$42) per slot machine

The tax relief ends in October. By that time local authorities expect to increase the number of tourists in the region by 30 percent.
