The Star wins casino operator of the year

The Star Sydney has been named Casino Operator of the Year Asia/Australia at the 10th Annual International Gaming Awards held on February 6, 2017.

According to a press release from the operator, the International Gaming Awards judges recognized The Star’s robust vision, originality and vitality across brand identity, marketing, customer service and innovation that successfully set it apart in the marketplace.

The Star’s continued multi-million dollar capital investment into property enhancements along with innovative gaming facilities and technologies, the newly opened Star Training Academy, major property-wide destinational marketing campaigns and The Star Entertainment Group’s revamped loyalty program, The Star Club, all contributed to the victory, said the company.

Greg Hawkins, managing director at The Star, said the whole team will be celebrating the win.

“Our journey of developing our guest experiences to be truly world class continues… The win highlights the tremendous effort the entire team has contributed to date in providing our guests with a truly unique gaming and customer experience.

“With over 11 million guests visiting our property each year, The Star is proud to offer guests the very best in dining, award winning luxury hotel accommodation and day spa, an international designer retail collection as well as a world-class casino and international nightclub Marquee; along with the Star Event Centre, a state-of-the art venue hosting high-profile events and international talent from around the world,” said Mr Hawkins.

“We believe investing in team member training is fundamental to maintaining high standards of service excellence throughout the property. In addition to our Star Qualities program we are excited to have recently opened the Star Training Academy, Sydney’s only training facility devoted to the professional development of gaming team members.

The property’s new training academy develops the technical and service skills of over 80 gaming team members each month with specialized learning modules in trainee dealer recruitment and gaming management skills,” concluded Mr Hawkins.

The International Gaming Awards recognize the premier accomplishments of both online and land-based gaming organisations and are supported and judged by renowned industry insiders and gaming clients from all tiers of the gaming world.

Currently a A$500 million capital investment program is underway at The Star Sydney including a luxurious new arrival experience, exciting new places to play, stylish new bars and restaurants and deluxe refurbishment of hotel rooms. In addition, a new 6-star A$500 million hotel and residential tower is proposed as part of future development.
