Tiger Resorts sees 13 pct gaming revenue decline in Dec

Universal Entertainment has reported to the JASDAQ Securities Exchange a month-to-month 13 percent decline in gaming revenue from its unit Tiger Resort Leisure & Entertainment, the operating firm for Okada Manila.

Tiger Resort posted gross gaming revenue of P2.5 billion (US$48 million), which was about 13 percent lower than the previous month.

The company statement said, “Gross gaming revenue for December decreased by lower win rates in all of the gaming segments of VIP, mass table games, and gaming machines, although volumes in VIP rolling, mass table drop, and gaming machine handle increased month to month respectively.”

Otherwise, however, the news was positive. The non-gaming revenue figure of PHP299 million (about $5.8 million) was a record high as the holiday season brought in many visitors to the property. Hotel occupancy was at 97.7 percent.

Last October Universal announced its intention to upgrade its information disclosure, and since that time it has been releasing monthly results on its casino business. In November and December these results were released in the name of “Okada Manila,” but this time they began using the name “Tiger Resort,” the operating company.
