Twelve firms submit Yokohama IR information

A dozen companies submitted plans and information to the Yokohama municipal government before the RFI deadline last Friday. Among these, eight were international IR operators, two were domestic property developers, and two were other kinds of Japanese firms.

Although the full list of the IR operators that participated is unknown, according to the Kanagawa Shinbun half of them did acknowledge their involvement—Caesars Entertainment, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM Resorts, and Wynn Resorts.

At least two of these companies revealed that their plans centered on the Yamashita Pier location.

Twentytwo companies, including 9 operators, registered to join the RFI briefing session last month, but some of these appear to have done so mainly to collect data on the process, not with a mind to actively participate.

Based on the information submitted by the 12 firms and its own research, the Yokohama municipal authorities intend to compile a comprehensive report by March 2019, and then use it to determine whether or not they will move forward with an IR bid.
