Unibet plans to ramp up marketing next year

Foreign online bookmaker Unibet says it will be ramping up its marketing in Australia with the aim of increasing its market share, local media reports.

Unibet, owned by Stockholm-listed Kindred Group is a relatively small player in Australia compared to bookmakers such as William Hill, CrownBet, SportsBet, Ladbrokes and Bet365.

Speaking to the Australian Financial Review, chief executive Henrik Tjarnstrom said the company remains committed to Australia, and plans to spend more money to acquire customers next year.

"Australia is an important and big market. It has a relatively high GDP per capita and there is a high propensity to gamble. So it is a very important market to us," he said.

“We will be putting some great products in place here and while we have not really marketed as much as we could have, we are planning to do more in the coming year.”
