Visitor arrivals up slightly in June


The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) reported a small rise in visitor arrivals to Macau in the month of June, up 0.9 percent year-on-year, but down 7.5 percent month-on-month.

Overnight visitors saw an increase of 10.1 percent year-on-year, while same day visitors decreased 9.1 percent in June.

Visitors from mainland China saw growth of 1.8 percent year-on-year, reaching 1.5 million visitors, but the largest growth was observed from the Republic of Korea, which grew 42.2 percent to 66,758 visitors in the month.

In the first half year of 2017, visitor arrivals totalled 15.6 million, marking an increase of 5.4 percent year-on-year compared to 16H1.

Overnight visitors rose by 13 percent while same-day visitors dropped by 1.8 percent.

Length of stay for overnight and same day visitors stayed relatively stable year-on-year, added the DSEC.
