Visitors to Macau up 11 pct in April


Visitor arrivals to Macau in April increased 11 percent year-on-year to 2.7 million, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

Visitors from mainland China increased 7.1 percent year-on-year to 1.8 million in the month, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme rising 18.5 percent in the month.

Visitors from South Korea, and Hong Kong surged 48.7 percent and 25.3 percent respectively, while visitors from Taiwan fell 2.8 percent.

In regards to visitor type, overnight visitors went up 17.7 percent year-on-year in April, while same day visitors recorded an increase of 4.4 percent.

The April arrivals brought total visitor arrivals for the first four months of 2017 to 10.6 million, an increase of 6.9 percent year-on-year.
